Precision UAS Recovery System for GPS Denied Environments
The Xollai Recovery System (XRS) utilizes real-time video processing techniques to detect aircraft position and orientation data relative to the XRS sensor. Using this data, an aircraft can be precisely guided to the desired landing zone. All position and orientation data is gathered from the XRS video feed, so there is no need for GPS or any onboard avionics during recovery.
CAPTURE WINDOW
At the capture window, the aircraft is detected by the XRS. The native avionics data is bypassed and XRS data is utilized for the remainder of flight.
TARGET WINDOW
The aircraft is guided to the Target window. This is the target just before touchdown, and could be directed into a net or other device. This window can be a very tight space dependent on the limitations of the aircraft and control system. A reasonable expected window size is 5-10 feet across for small systems.
LANDING ZONE
If the user wishes to do a soft ground landing, this is the area where the aircraft will touch down and come to rest.
